Two Secrets to Improve Your Search Engine Optimization

Written by Travis Pryor, Digital Account Strategist

Every year, over 2.8 trillion searches take place on Google alone.

That equates to over 88,000 searches per second.

And you want to be number 1?SEO Continues To Change

Then we need to get to work.

To rank number one on any search engine requires two things: time and obedience.

“Search engine optimization” (SEO) continues to change. As search engines get smarter and learn more about users and what they are looking for, search results follow suit.

Google’s algorithms have adjusted to better account for the interests of searchers.

“The fact that search engines are getting smarter has very practical consequences for SEO. For this reason, it may seem tempting to keep changing your website content to get a better ranking on search engines. However, ultimately you will do better to put more energy into creating relevant, coherent content aimed at your target visitors (and potential customers). The better search engines become, the better quality and more unique your content should be.” - HubSpot What is SEO eBook

#1 - More Isn’t Always Better (QUALITY)Quality over Quanity

Content Marketing is a big trend within the digital marketing realm right now and we think it’s the way to go. As marketers we must help equip our clients with resources before we can ever begin to dream about selling them our products.

As content marketers generate more and more content every day, it’s beginning to feel a bit crowded with mediocre content. Because of all the noise that is being created every day, it is important to create high quality content over a high quantity of content.

In a post about Search Engine Optimization what does quality over quantity have to do with anything? Well, it has everything to do with SEO.

Let’s think through this logically. If you write three blog posts a week for 52 weeks, that’s 156 new blog posts every year. To do this with any amount of quality must mean that you have a great amount of resources for your marketing department. If you do, that’s great. But chances are your organization does not have an unlimited budget.

To create that much content that quickly means that something has to give.

And unfortunately that QUALITY must go.

When quality begins to give, so does your web traffic. You are no longer producing resources that serve your clients better, you are producing noise that annoys people.

“So, as the webmaster, you should always be aiming to give users and search engines the best possible result for every relevant search query. You will satisfy users’ needs by providing unique content and a website that works well on any device.”- HubSpot What is SEO eBook
