I get asked this question all the time when talking with clients and planning out marketing objectives or working through a web design.  To say that, "Yes, blogging is still 'a thing'", is quite actually an understatement.  As our world has shifted into the digital age, people now have access to content at their fingertips and want it just as fast.

The goal of blogging or content marketing in general is to create reliable, insightful content for your visitors.  Customized content engages your readers, attracts their attention, and builds their interest in your company.  Besides increasing your reputability and brand awareness blogging will also increase your inbound links. In fact, companies who blog receive 97% more links to their website. Not only that, but B2B companies who regularly blog receive 67% more leads every month than those companies who do not.

Mommy Bloggers

Still don't think blogging is "a thing"?  Recently, The Today Show ran a segment on "Mommy Bloggers", Vera Sweeney, Audrey McClelland and Linda Grant.  The influence that these women have on their audience is so large and respected, that brands actually reach out to sponsor posts!  Brands and companies will pay the bloggers to be a brand ambassador and represent their products.  By working with the brands and products that these "Mommy Bloggers" believe in and trust not only shows their audience that they are real and authentic but also provides a nice pay day (think five to six figures).  What makes these women so successful is that they are producing reliable, quality content geared specifically for their audience.

Since keyword optimization is becoming less and less important in the eyes of Google, keeping a quality blog, posting frequently, and staying active on social media will have a positive and dramatic effect on your content marketing efforts. Write about your passion, be honest, authentic, stay active and engage with your audience.
