When the purpose of an organization literally deals with life and death, it is imperative that their website not only function properly, but is easy to use and navigate. When working alongside Donate Life Indiana during a web redesign initiative, our goal was to help them achieve their mission. Which is saving lives by creating opportunities for all Indiana citizens to sign up on the official state registry while striving to raise awareness for organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation We did this through the use of a mobile responsive website with an easy to use user interface.
Understanding the depth of the mission for Donate Life Indiana was imperative as we began to build this custom application in Kentico CMS. One of the major components of the build was integrating secure data from the Burea of Motor Vehicles to Donate Life Indiana.
Pulling over 3 million data records was no small task. However, through an API (Application Program interface) and a custom built application we were able to succesfully request and pull data from the BMV on a daily basis. The BMV processes the request and sends the data giving Donate Life the ability to organize records in a custom built database, which then gives them access to all of their donor information. With this, Donate Life now has a complete and up-to-date list of ALL registered donors in the state of Indiana on a daily basis.
Donate LIfe had many other wishlist items that we were able to succesfully achieve with interactive features (for an easy to use interface) and custom development (to help Donate Life Indiana achieve their mission).
Interactive Features
- Live Automated Ticker - Updates automatically with a total count of registered donors in Indiana.
- Sliding FAQ Page – Engaging modules to encourage user interaction.
- E-cards – Online post cards that users can share via social media.
Custom Functionality
- Online Registration - Be able to register online and not only through the BMV
- Story Submissions - Users can share stories on donors and recipients.
- Language Toggle - Ability to change languages between English and Spanish
